What is human-in-the-loop AI?

Human-in-the-loop AI is a way of running AI agents so that a person can review, approve or take over at defined points. The agent does the routine work on its own and pauses for a human on the steps where a mistake would be costly or hard to undo.

The idea is to match autonomy to risk. A reply to a simple question can go out automatically, while a refund, a contract change or a sensitive message waits for approval. Teams usually start with more review and loosen it as they see the agent perform.

Human-in-the-loop also covers takeover: a teammate can join a live conversation or call at any moment, with the full context in front of them.

How Tether Relay does this

On Tether Relay a teammate can step into any conversation, approve a message before it sends, and receive a warm transfer on a live call.
