What is a warm transfer?
A warm transfer hands a live call from an AI agent or one person to another while passing along the context, such as who is calling, what they need and what has already been said. The caller does not have to repeat themselves, unlike a cold transfer that connects with no briefing.
Warm transfers are what make AI on the phone safe to adopt. The agent handles what it can, and when a call needs judgment or empathy it brings in a person with a summary instead of dropping the caller into a queue.
