Tour of the app

Find your way around Tether Relay, from the sidebar and search to notifications, your availability, Tovi and the layout options.

After you sign in, Tether Relay opens on Conversations, your inbox. Everything else hangs off the sidebar on the left: your notifications, search, Tovi and every page your role can use.

The sidebar

From top to bottom, the sidebar holds:

  • Notifications, with your latest notifications underneath. See Notifications.
  • Search…, which opens search. See Search.
  • Tovi, the AI assistant, with its Alpha badge.
  • Sales Management, open when you arrive: the pages you work in every day.
  • Metrics, with Contact Metrics.
  • Organization Management, the admin pages your role can use.
  • Settings, your own settings. See Your profile.
  • Sign Out.
  • At the bottom: the Away and Available switch, the light and dark switch, the layout switch and the button that collapses the sidebar.

Select a group’s name to open or close it. If the list is longer than your screen, scroll the sidebar.

Sales Management

These pages are the same for every role, although what you see inside them can depend on your role. Sales reps see the conversations and contacts assigned to them, Department heads see their department’s, and Admins see the whole organization’s.

  • Conversations: your inbox of texts, web chats, calls and email. See Conversations.
  • Outreach: the lead sources that bring new contacts in. See Outreach and campaigns.
  • Pipelines: your contacts by stage. See Contacts and pipelines.
  • Contacts: every customer you can see, in a searchable list.
  • Bulk SMS: text campaigns to many contacts at once.
  • Agents, Simulations and Marketplace: set up AI agents, test them and add ready-made ones. See AI agents.
  • Automations and Workflows: let Tether Relay act on events for you. See Automations and workflows.
  • Templates: saved messages you reuse.
  • Google Sheet Integration: import contacts from a spreadsheet.

Organization Management

Search finds pages and records across your workspace.

  1. Select Search… in the sidebar, or press Ctrl + K (⌘ + K on a Mac) from anywhere in the app.
  2. Type at least two characters.
  3. Use the arrow keys to move through the results and press Enter to open one, or select it. Press Esc to close search.
The search box open over the app with con typed and a Pages group listing Conversations, Contacts, Contact Metrics, AI Consumption and Conversation Monitor

Results come in groups: Pages, Contacts & Conversations, Applications, Agents, Automations, Workflows, Webchats and Templates. Each group shows five results at a time; select the arrow beside a group to see more. You only find contacts you can see: Sales reps find their own contacts and Department heads their department’s.

Admins can also reach two pages through search that aren’t in the sidebar: Contact Merge Settings and Review Duplicate Contacts.

Notifications

The Notifications section at the top of the sidebar shows your newest unread notifications, grouped by who they’re from. A red dot next to the heading means you have unread ones. Select the heading to fold the section away, and select it again to open it.

To see them all, select the panel icon next to the Notifications heading, or See All Notifications under the list when there are more than fit. The notification drawer opens on the right.

The notification drawer open on the right, with a Search notifications box, a filter button and the empty state No Notifications

In the drawer you can:

  • Search with Search notifications….
  • Select the filter icon to show only All, Messages, Calls, Campaigns, Mentions or Follow-ups.
  • Select Mark all as read.
  • Select a notification to open the conversation it’s about. A campaign notification opens Bulk SMS, and a mention opens the contact’s notes.
  • Hover over a notification and select the × to dismiss it.

Only unread notifications are listed, from the last seven days. Older ones are removed. To choose which kinds of notification you get, see Your profile.

Away and Available

The switch at the bottom of the sidebar sets whether you’re taking chats.

  • Available: escalated conversations can be assigned to you.
  • Away: they go to a teammate who’s available, or wait in a queue until someone is.

Tether Relay sets you to Away when you sign out and shortly after you close your last Tether Relay tab, so check the switch when you start work.

Tovi

Tovi is the AI assistant built into Tether Relay. It’s marked Alpha. You can open it two ways:

  • Select Tovi in the sidebar to open it as a full page.
  • Select the small tab on the right edge of any page, or press Ctrl + Shift + Space, to open it as a panel over the page you’re on. Drag the tab up or down if it’s in your way.

The buttons along the top of the panel open your Tovi history, Tovi’s settings, copy the chat, start a new thread, open Tovi as a full page and close the panel. Esc also closes it. You can drag the panel to the left or right edge of the screen to dock it there.

Everyone can ask Tovi to explain and look things up. Admins can also have it create or edit agents, workflows, automations and pipelines; Department heads can have it change agents, conversations and contacts. See Tovi.

Light and dark

The sun or moon button at the bottom of the sidebar switches between light and dark. More colour options are on the Theme tab in Settings.

Collapse the sidebar

  • Select the button at the bottom right of the sidebar (Collapse sidebar) to shrink it to icons. Hover over an icon to see its name. Select the same button (Expand sidebar) to open it again.
  • Drag the sidebar’s right edge to make it wider or narrower. Right-click the edge and choose Reset panel sizes to go back to the default width.

The collapsed sidebar has no Sign Out. Expand it to sign out.

The stacked layout moves navigation into a bar across the top of the screen, which leaves more room for your work.

  • To switch to it, select the layout button at the bottom of the sidebar. Its tooltip reads Switch to stacked view.
  • To switch back, select the layout button in the top bar. Its tooltip reads Switch to sidebar.

In the stacked layout, Sales Management, Metrics and your admin pages are menus in the top bar. On a narrower screen they show as icons; hover over one, or select it, to open it. The bell opens your notifications, and the menu under your initials at the top right holds Settings and Sign out.

Your layout choice, and whether the sidebar is collapsed, are saved in this browser.

On a phone

The sidebar is hidden on a phone. Tap the round menu button at the top left to slide it in, then tap a page to go there. Tap the × or anywhere outside the menu to close it. On Conversations, use the Menu button at the top of the page instead.
